Membership and Progress of the AWI

Certification

In the last few years there has been a determined effort to push International Institute of Welding (IIW) qualifications onto the Australian market.

While the AWI recognises their great value, they should not be marketed through a single provider and at the expense of national and other international qualifications.

The AWI is committed to providing its members with ‘competitive choice’ and a cost-effective certification scheme; meeting the needs of all stakeholders in the Australian welding and fabrication industry. Working with TAFE and Registered Training Organisations (RTO’s), we have implemented a nationally recognised scheme catering to:

  • AS 1796 certificates 1 to 9 (the ‘welding tickets’)
  • Certification of Welding Supervisors to both AS 1796 and AS 2214
  • Certification of Welding Inspectors

AWI can assess qualifications issued by TAFE and RTO’s and if successful, issue a certificate and wallet card acknowledged and verifiable by Australian industry.

After listening to industry and our members, we have joined in partnership with TWI Global with the aim of providing high-quality education to meet current and future needs. Become a member (it’s FREE) and receive information about upcoming events.

The AWI strategy is to offer flexible, logical and progressive certification and education schemes driven by members and industry.
