What are Pre Qualified Welding procedures?.

What requirements are to be met for a welding procedure to be deemed pre-qualified?

Pre-Qualified Welding Procedures are procedures that have been welded and tested previously by an industry specific group and are thereby deemed “Pre-qualified”.
Eg. AS/NZS 1554 Part 1 only requires a macro to “qualify” the procedure if all requirements for prequalification are met. Otherwise, full mechanical testing is required.
AWS D1.1 has the same thing except a macro is not required.
    Hope that helps,
    Cheers,

i tend to agree with BB, but the prequalified preparations are just that, preparations, the tables in 1554 dont suggest amps, volts, consumables etc to produce a test piece, for the qualification of a procedure, and thence a WPS
