Yep, I’m finding exactly the same thing. “5 – 10 years previous experience, preferably in the oil and gas industry”.
How do you get the experience to start with??? I’m sure all the senior inspectors out there started off as “newbies” aswell.
I must admit when I first started it was a hard start
look at getting into QA as a QA officer which can then lead to inspection
and try to get into an organisation that has a possible career path into these roles
Working as a supervisor helps to develop experience and you can note that inspection is done as part of that role
I do not think they are over looking locals for overseas, as most (not all) of OS inspectors do not have a handle on AS
if first you do not succeed, try, try again 😉
