Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone knows whether changing the 1G run sequence (welded both sides) on the WPS slightly different to the PQR (noting that all essential variables remain the same) requires the requalification of the PQR.
PQR states:
Runs 1-8 > welded from side 1 (in the 1G)
Job is rotated back to the 1G position
Run 9 > side 2 back gouged and welded in the 1G position.
WPS states:
Run 1 > side 2 welded in the 1G position
Job is rotated back to the 1G position
Runs 2-9 >side 1 back gouged and welded in the 1G position.
Does anyone have experience with this and see it a problem?
Cheers
IG
IG, Don’t have any experience with AWS D1.1, but can’t see this being a problem. Could argue that the same amount of heat is not being used on the back gouged run, but really, common sense prevails.
The only other thing I would look at is distortion. Does the PQR state a pre-set angle?
