If I'm looking at a work instruction from a company that reads
"All welding processes must be in accordance with the AS 1796.
Only trained/competent assesses persons may use the MIG/ARC welder."
What would be the qualifications/certifications needed to weld to those standards,
Cheers
Hey WeldingFlashers
AS1796 is for ‘certification’ of welders
it is very often miss specified into contract documents
the comment
“All welding processes must be in accordance with the AS 1796.’ is erroneous, it means nothing
as for
Only trained/competent assesses persons may use the MIG/ARC welder, — this is easy to satisfy, anyone with a current welder qualification to the appropriate standard satisifies this
Trust this clears things up a little
AS1796 is a qualification standard for welding personnel.
To comply with AS1796, a welder will be required to weld a test piece, and have it mechanically or non destructively tested.
