Lincoln Electric Australia opens new Advanced Welding Technology Centre of Excellence.
Lincoln Electric Australia’s newly opened Advanced Welding Technology Centre of Excellence is a multi-million dollar purpose-built facility. Based at the Padstow site in Sydney, the facility is the first of its kind in Australia and is dedicated to showcasing the latest state-of-the-art welding equipment and automation technology from around the world, including robot cells and plasma cutting machines.
The Technology Centre show cases some of Lincoln’s latest technology in welding. Ranging from Power Wave platform which are highly versatile software-based welding machines that are able to perform multiple processes, virtual reality welding system which enables apprentice welders and fabricators to learn how to weld without wasting materials and wires, the latest MIG and TIG orbital welders, fume extraction equipment, plasma cutting tables and robot welders.
Customers can now have the opportunity to experience the technology firsthand. Through the Technology Centre Lincoln can demonstrate to industry better ways of welding, ways that will increase productivity and reduce costs to make Australian manufacturers more competitive, both locally and globally.
Lincoln Electric’s Advanced Welding Technology Centre of Excellence was opened on 16 March 2016 and was attended by numerous industry representatives, including NSW Business Chamber, Jens Goennemann (Advanced Manufacturing Growth Centre) and more than 30 of Lincoln’s key distributors.
Lincoln Electric has played an integral and critical role in the development of Australian Industry and Infrastructure over the last 78 years. First established in Cleveland, Ohio in 1895, Australia became the first country outside of the United States to have local subsidiary – the Lincoln Electric Company Australia Pty Ltd.
Lincoln Electric Managing Director Patrick Wahlen said, “We have made an investment here in Australia that goes a long way in cementing and demonstrating our commitment to industries, and to provide facilities that will allow us to show the latest products and technology to customers. We have the capabilities to bring solutions to the industries, to help the industries to become more competitive, so that we will have more jobs and a brighter manufacturing future in Australia. Together we can make the difference.”
As part of the opening, Lincoln Electric have also launched several new products, including three technologically advanced models:
ASPECT 300 AC/DC TIG
ASPECT® 300 is an industrial AC/DC TIG welding machine designed and manufactured using the latest inverter digital technology. This machine has been designed and built to perform in the most hazardous environments at high outputs: 300A at 35% duty cycle both in TIG AC and TIG DC application.
The controller provides all the features you would expect from industrial AC/DC TIG inverter welding machines combined with a user-friendly front panel layout, setting advanced TIG parameters has never been so simple!
The top class features like the 2A minimum current, the multiple AC mode selection (including four different wave shapes), the optimized TIG start with adjustable electrode type and HF polarity, makes the unit the right choice to suit any application.
It can be simply changed to water-cooled by adding the COOL ARC® 46 Water Cooler. A robust, stable and well equipped cart is available for easy movement of the unit.
Features:
- Advanced inverter technology for superior TIG performance.
- Superb welding characteristics with TIG DC, TIG AC and Stick welding processes.
- Adjustable cleaning and penetration for perfect aluminium welding.
- Variable AC frequency (40-400Hz) for control of travel speed and penetration.
- Full function user-friendly control panel layout with graph and a numeric display make it easy to set all welding parameters.
- Rugged construction: electrical safety (IP23), potted PC boards and optimum airflow “Tunnel Technology” reduce contamination to extend the equipment’s life in the harshest environmental conditions.
- PFC (Power Factor Correction) advantages: 30% more output current with the same input current, suitable for 415V (+15%-10%) three phase, low current consumption, energy saving, low current harmonics and reduction of the total CO2 produced by the welding process. • Water coolers and Carts available.
FLEXTEC 350X
Out on the construction jobsite or in most fabrication shops, it pays to keep it simple. The Flextec platform is designed for that kind of environment. These multi-process welders are easy to setup and easy to operate, yet rugged and flexible enough to be used in construction, fabrication, shipbuilding and other heavy-duty applications.
Features:
- Streamlined operator panel minimizes setup time
Built on industry proven design elements of other popular Lincoln Electric welders - Components designed to run cool for long life in high temperature environments
- Fully encapsulated and environmentally protected electronics
- Engineered for outdoor use and harsh environments (IP23 rated)
- Compatible with across-the-arc, analog, digital or CrossLinc™ feeders
- Premium multi-process arc characteristics works with all DC wire, stick and TIG processes
- VRD® Voltage Reduction Device reduces Open Circuit Voltage for added safety
