Currently hold Cert III in Engineering (fabrication). What training is required if I want to be able to certify my own work. Do I have to complete Cert IV in Engineering or is there a short course available?
Bu certifying your own work, do you mean develop your own procedures, or certify the welding by NDT.
If you are referring to procedures, you need to be “competent”, as in know what you are doing, and know the purpose. Generally someone with a “ticket 10” welding supervisor qualification, are deemed to be competent.
If you are referring to weld testing, there would be a conflict of interest there, as there could be perceived pressure to ensure the weld pass. AS4037 also states that the personnel engaged for NDT are to be suitably qualified.
