hi folks
this may have been covered elsewhere but im unable to find any info…
there is a substantial bit of kit being built and the welding is crap to put it mildly. it has already been repaired but the repairs are very substandard and need to be redone.
question is – how many times under 1554 can a weld be cut out and repaired?
im aware of the haz and reduction in charpy value issues.
thanks
Verdi,
There is nowhere that states how many times a weld can be repaired. (that I am aware of)
Are the repairs being undertaken by the same welder who did the original welds???
Are they qualified???
AS/NZS 1554 states that welders repeatedly producing welds of poor quality shall cease welding, until welds of quality can be proven. ie, a new welder qualification.
Sorry I couldn’t help any further.
thanks for your reply cass
no its not the same welder – its from asia and we have to repair here using hopefully proper welders.
