Join AWI in three steps

Three questions, then we quote you. No prospectus, no sales call. Fees are quoted on application, so tell us which membership you want and how long for and you get the current schedule back with your fee on it.

  1. Who you are
  2. How long
  3. Certification

No JavaScript All three steps are shown below as one form. Choose your options and submit: your fee comes back by email. The stepped version is a convenience, not a requirement.

Step 1. Which membership fits you?

What happens after you join

  1. You get a receipt and a member number. Immediately, by email.
  2. Your account is created on the member portal. That is where your details live. They are not published anywhere on this website, and there is no public member directory. Why that matters.
  3. The technical library opens up. Including the archive and the member only material. The standards library was always open to everybody.
  4. If you added certification, your assessment fee is recorded at the member rate and the application process tells you what evidence to send.

What AWI asks you for, and why

A membership form should be able to justify every field on it. Ours will be able to:

Information collected at join, and the reason for it
Field Why it is needed Published?
Name To issue membership and certification in the right name Only on the register, only if you opt in
Email Receipts, renewals, the bulletin if you want it Never
Postal address To post a certificate and wallet card Never
Phone Optional. Only used if an application needs a question answered Never
Employer Optional. Corporate seat allocation and industry statistics Never
Trade background To assess certification entry requirements Never

The right hand column is the point. A professional body has legitimate reasons to hold personal information. It has no reason at all to publish it.
