Am a little unclear
When assessing a Pipe/plate ,for a Welder Qual test what acceptance level do we use as they change from class 1-3? Or is it that if the weld passes only to level 3 does mean this mean that the welder can only weld class 3 pipes?
The same goes for surface plate surface defect, vary for class of boiler and vessel.
With a welder qual, the test piece will need to be radiographed.
For Pressure Vessels, there is only one level of acceptance criteria for internal discontinuities.
For Pressure Piping, generally you would expect to radiograph to Class 1, that way the welder is covered for all classes.
However, if assessed to class 2 or 3, this is the only equipment the welder will be permitted to perform any welding on.
